Holyland Handicrafts Coop, Palestine

The coop sells olive wood and mother-of-pearl handicrafts produced by members in the Bethlehem area. It was the first organisation from the Arab speaking world to join IFAT. Some 900 people benefit from the coop, which aims to keep long established craft industries alive that are threatened by conflict. The coop seeks to coordinate the activities of independent producers who would otherwise struggle to access the market alone.

Aranya, Bangladesh

As a Fair Trade micro-enterprise, Aranya's partnership with craftspeople guarantees fair wages and ensures that they are not exploited or under valued. Aranya has revived the use of natural dyes in Bangladesh and  trained hundreds of artisans  in dying and printing techniques. It works in hand woven, embroidered and block printed hand loom silk and organic cotton. It has developed and worked with the Jamdani Nakshi Kantha techniques, unique to Bangladesh.
